Collaborating with Interior Designers - Etons Of Bath

Collaboration with an Interior Designer

In a recent webinar, I shared how Artroom London collaborates with interior designers, connecting with over 30 professionals navigating the constraints of lockdown. This led to a partnership with Etons of Bath, instigated by Sarah Latham, the Director and Owner. The natural synergy between Artroom London and Etons of Bath projects was evident from our initial conversation. With a specific project in mind, we discussed how Artroom London could source pieces that seamlessly complemented the bespoke designs curated by Etons of Bath, whilst focusing on their clients’ preferences. From there, we got to work.

The Design team were a dream at bringing me up to speed with their project; the brief specified bright colours and bold fabrics, and I was shown the mood boards of fabrics and design concepts. We worked through the elevations, settling on the optimal spaces to place artworks. I was constantly in awe of their skill; working with a completely blank canvas, perfectly grasping the essence of the brief and visualising it.

Meeting the Clients

Meeting Carole Hailey and her husband Pete Madigan was a pleasure; they had a clear view of what they wanted for their collection. Carole, a former lawyer, had recently secured a publishing deal for her debut novel, 'The Silence Project', and we connected immediately over our shared passion for literature.

Art Selection

The clients' preferences guided the selection process, with Pete favouring abstract paintings and Carole keen on supporting emerging female artists and acquiring works by African artists. Notable galleries like Addis Fine Art, Ed Cross Art Gallery, Dada Art, and Jack Bell became focal points. A visit to Addis Fine Art's exhibition of Nigatu Tsehay's 'Pace of Life' resonated deeply with Carole and Pete.

Choosing the Art

Reserving paintings for our visit ensured an efficient viewing process. The immediate and visceral response to Nigatu Tsehay's works was palpable. Viewing the artworks in person proved essential, as nuances can be lost in photographs. I arranged for the art to be brought to the clients’ home so they could see and experience the works in their intended space, this proved hugely beneficial and gave them confidence in their decisions.

Installing the Art

Working with Crown Art, an art logistics company, we ensured the precise placement of each piece. The interplay between the paintings, colours, and furniture was a triumph. Feedback from both the clients and Etons of Bath was overwhelmingly positive and testament to a fantastic collaborative process and great communication between all parties. .

Project Milestones

Carole Hailey's novel earned the title of Radio 2 Book of the Week by Zoe Ball, and is prominently displayed in bookstores. Etons of Bath's exceptional work on this project was featured in the March 2023 edition of Cardiff Life.

Collaborating with all parties was a priviledge, culminating in a project that surpassed expectations.
